Several years ago while studying the Old Testament my eyes were opened to a new and exciting truth concerning God. I was in the middle of Exodus. As God gave the glorious detail in building the Tabernacle and all the elements of worship, I was completely engrossed in His word. I thought,” This was my chapter, my book!”. I was amazed by the numbers of people with special talents it took to produce a Tabernacle worthy of God, directed by Him. These people where chosen/appointed by Him to do the work he commanded. How awesome is that! God is a God of details, and order, and is creative, and is delegating. These passages poured over me and began to soak into my mind and spirit like water filling a sponge.
I have been serving God at St. Luke by creating worship centers, mostly on the altar, for many years. I enjoy it, it is fun. I realize that God gave me a passion and skill for creating. And I delight in the process, the details. So, I bring God my talent as a sacrifice. Others see my sacrifice and their worship (I pray) may be enhanced. The skill I have been given is a reflection of God as my creator. And it’s not just at Church that I can be creative, I am creative at home. My family benefits daily by my God given, Spirit filled skill, ability and knowledge. Praise God!
What truth has God revealed about your talent?
Prayer
Lord, thank you for your many gifts, and for the different skills and talents you provide your children. Help us to recognize our gifts, and put them to good use in building up your kingdom. In Jesus name, Amen.
