Stephen Ministries

The Stephen Series is a complete system for training and organizing laypersons for caring ministry in and around their congregations. Stephen Ministers provide one-on-one, distinctively Christian care to those who are experiencing a life crisis or challenge. If you could benefit from having someone who would listen and care and walk with you through a difficult time, or are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister, please contact Joanne Beidleman or the church office.

The PBS "Religion and Ethics" news show recently aired an eight-minute feature on Stephen Ministry that vividly describes the life-changing ministry happening in thousands of congregations. View it here:

God's Pantry

St. Luke hosts and staffs an emergency food distribution center in Lexington called God's Pantry.

Card Ministry

Through our card ministry, we reach out to members and friends during different events in life. We send cards for Births, Marriages, Baptisms, Celebration of Job and Sympathy.

Meal Teams

Members of the St. Luke Meal Teams provide meals for families that are experiencing change or a difficult time in their lives.

Prayer Ministry

A group of people have volunteered to be called upon at any time to pray during emergencies. If you need prayer during a time of crisis, you can call the church office, 859-269-4687. There are also several prayer groups meeting at the various times during the week. These groups are open to anyone interested in attending. If you are interested in signing up to participate in the 24-hour prayer wall for St. Luke, check at the information table on Sunday mornings.

Serving From the Heart

Serving From the Heart examines God's plan for you! It is a short term seminar including scriptural study of the spiritual gifts and discovering/affirming talents, resources, individual style and experience. Our goal is for our entire community of faith to enroll in Serving From the Heart. Why? To serve God in ways that make a significant difference for Him, for you personally, to build up the body of Christ and the world. Class times are available several times through out the year. Check our home page for upcoming events. Contact: Dawn Beamish, 269-4687 X 222 or dbeamish@stlukeumc.org.

Hospitality

The hospitality team is responsible for assuring that all who attend St. Luke feel welcomed both by interactions with others and through a welcoming physical environment. The team provides sanctuary ushers, greeters for each service who direct people to correct nursery rooms and classrooms, and Welcome Center volunteers. Team members bake bread and assemble visitor information bags. The team is also responsible for coordinating special events, Sunday morning coffee, and Wednesday night G.R.O.W. dinners as well as maintaining a clean and well-stocked church kitchen. Contact: Church Office, 269-4687.

P.E.T.S. Ministry (Pets Enrich The Soul)

P.E.T.S. is a program to reach out to others through the use of animals to reduce suffering and loneliness and draw others to God through nursing home visits. Nursing home visits are a blessing both to the team members and the residents, who have responded with smiles and repeated requests for return visits.
